Yandex.Taxi embeds translating option into driver-client chat
MOSCOW, Jun 15 (PRIME) -- Russian online taxi hailing service Yandex.Taxi has integrated an automatic translator working with 95 languages into the chat used in the driver-client communication, the company said on Friday.
“Now drivers can understand their passengers, even if they speak the language drivers do not know. This option will help communicate with foreign tourists and fans (of the FIFA World Cup), who will come this summer,” the statement read.
The chat with the translating option will appear soon in applications Yandex.Taxi and Taximeter, a driver program for working with orders, in all cities and countries of the service’s presence.
The new chat functions on the basis of technologies of Yandex.Translate and understands when messages should be translated. “It checks what languages were chosen in the settings on devices of a user and a driver and switches the translation option on if they mismatch,” Yandex.Taxi said.
Yandex.Taxi merged its operations with Uber in Russia and some CIS states and the combined firm works in more than 600 cities in 12 countries.
